does not smell like teen spirit
September 09, 2008 // Posted by: la coquette // Category: lifeToday has not been a good day for me.
Thankfully, the bitch of all migraines wafted away whilst I slept. Sadly, I was woken up in the middle of the night and I couldn’t fall back to sleep. Eventually I drifted off to the music from VH1’s Nocturnal State playing in the background.
Whilst suffering this bout of insomnia, I downloaded a song from iTunes on my iPhone. Have I mentioned that it has been giving me fits of late? It’s been dropping calls and it’s sluggish when moving from one application to another. All-in-all, it’s really annoying. And yes, I have followed all the recommended fixes to see if that helps and I have the current software. Nothing worked.
I wanted to wake up before 10am today. Sadly, because of the insomnia, I woke up past 10. I managed a few financial transactions, cleaned up and ran out the door. I went to the mall, list in hand. I stopped first at Barnes and Noble. I wanted a few books and yay! I managed to find all three of them.
From Barnes and Noble, I ran to the new Apples Store.
I. AM. IN. LOVE.
I am currently lusting after the 20 inch iMac and a Macbook. When it comes to the Macbook, though, I’ll wait for the updated case; I hope they are released before Christmas.
After thinking I was invisible, waiting for help, someone finally approached me. He asked the particulars about my problem and then whisked away with my iPhone. Then, he put me into the queue for the Genius Bar. This wasn’t looking good.
I oohed and ahhed over the accessories and the hardware and within a few minutes, my name was called. I went up to the bar and handed over my iPhone, repeating, to some extent, what I told the previous gentleman. He took some details from me, had to find my account then voilà!
He indicated that they are going to replace my iPhone. We went through the transaction and as I was signing the paper work, it dawned on me, I hadn’t synced my phone. After giving a few instructions on whom to call to be able to re-download my unsynched song, I was on my way and out the door.
I took my purchases and new phone out of the car and I finished running the rest of my errands. Of late, I’ve noticed my car acting strangely. I’m scheduled for an oil change, rotate-and-balance on Thursday. Those need to be done. However, the other symptoms are reminiscent of the way my first car died. I have a feeling the transmission is going, slowly but surely.
I don’t want to buy a new car. I don’t drive enough miles to warrant having one, really. Although, living in the ‘burbs, it’s a necessity. This is an added expense I really don’t want to have to afford right now. I just want to keep this car through the winter, at most, without major repair bills.
So, the looming crisis of my car and the more immediate chore of syncing and arranging my iPhone, whilst tedious, are the contributing factors to my bad day. And, it’s not even 4pm yet. I think I’m going to stay in for the evening and read, I don’t think anything can go wrong with that.
